Estimated VO2max from a 3-minute stair test

A guided 3-minute stair-climb test that uses the same fingertip reading before and after the effort to estimate VO2max, the standard measure of aerobic fitness. Same on-device design, same result type, a new session kind. Heart rate recovery after the effort is part of the same work.

In development

  • Repeatability thresholds for VitalsChange. The “beyond typical measurement variation” constants (10 ms HRV (RMSSD), 5 bpm heart rate, 2 brpm breathing rate) come from the chest-strap agreement study. A back-to-back repeatability analysis is under way and will replace them with same-person, same-session figures.
  • Validation study growth. More participants, with a focus on Monk skin tones 7, 9 and 10, and a blind test of the finished system on new participants. The Metrics page is updated as the report is.

Planned

  • Camera preview views for the wrappers. A React Native component, a Flutter widget and a Capacitor view for the fingertip preview, so wrapper apps can show the red glow without native code.
  • Java sample app alongside the Kotlin one.

Not planned for the SDK

Anything that needs a network call or remote configuration. The SDK stays on-device; those layers belong to your app.
